(15/04/2005) UK Entrant Wins Bronze Award at International Fur Design Competition

Young British designer Sally Bohan has been awarded the Bronze prize in the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF) Fur Design Competition 2005.

The competition attracted 44 entries from young designers in North America, Europe and Asia. The three shortlisted entrants were recently announced in Milan. Sally’s winning design was a rex rabbit sapphire blue and black hooded jacket with silk thread embroidered hood.

Following the results Sally said: "It was an invaluable experience that gave me the opportunity to meet some amazing people within the industry and view some fabulous fur pieces I wouldn't have had access to otherwise. Winning the bronze award was unbelievable. It was fantastic to be involved in the competition and get insight into the industry at an international level."

Sally was the winner of the British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) Fur Design Competition 2004.

Japanese designer/design student, Atsuko Yamamoto, was crowned 2005 International Young Fur Designer. As part of her prize the gold winner will spend a week with STAFF INTERNATIONAL, the fashion design and manufacturer.

Greek designer Eliana Dimitrakopoulou received the silver award for her design.

The aim of the competition is to encourage, inspire and support young designers as they develop and explore their relationship with fur, as well as giving them an opportunity to showcase their innovative designs to an international audience.

The competition is organised in partnership with MIFUR, the Milan based international fur and leather exhibition. All 44 entries were displayed in the Upper Gallery during MIFUR, when visitors to the fair were invited to vote on their favourite of the short-listed three finalists.

All entrants designs for the international competition.
